About VGM Daily

VGM Daily is a blog where I post one song of videogame music (vgm) each day. I love this music and want to share it with others. I try to give a little background to the music, where it plays in the game, and any interesting bits of information on the music I can dig up. The goal of the site is to increase interest in and exposure to vgm and demonstrate the wide range of expression and types of music available and who knows? maybe get more people interested in it! Additionally, if you’re a vgm veteran, you should find something new here or remember a great tune you’d forgotten. There are 365 days in a year, so that’s a LOT of music!

So please! tell your friends about the site! And just remember: Play It Loud.

About Me

I am Devin Monnens, a game designer, instructor, and game critic. I design socially conscious games and write about them with the goal of pushing the boundaries of game expression. In addition, I volunteer with the International Game Developers Association (IGDA) as part of the Game Preservation Special Interest Group to promote the preservation of games for future generations. In addition, I founded the Game Developer Memorials Project, dedicated to remembering the lives and work of deceased game developers. My other hobby is The Metroid Database, the biggest, oldest, and best fan site for the Metroid series. Kudos to TJ Rappel for starting this gig! You can also check out my homepage.

  1. Hello, first off I like the idea for your blog, a good way to spread good VGM, cause there’ s aton of great stuff out there so why not post something good daily? I’ll have to add it my own daily blog visits.

But anyway I’m contacting to pass on a project of my own I just completed where I combine acapellas from my favorite rappers and N64 soundtracks. I call it “Raptendo 64”. There are 3 volumes and 47 tracks, with each track using a different game and a different rapper. I’m not sure if it’s exactly the kind of thing you would want to post, but if it is check it out, as there’s sure to be something you dig. Some are less profane then others, for example the first track with Jay-Z vs. Animal Crossing is actually taken from a censored version so there’ no profanity, if that’s an issue. But I thought I’d pass it on anyway so that if you do like it and would be willing to post a track for a day, cool! I would appreciate it if you could.

    Check it out here:

    Thanks!

  2. Hi Devin, I am Katie O’Brien, manager for Chris Field. Thanks for the well written review of Chris Field’s music. I have a copy of the entire soundtrack of Ultima X Odyssey, containing all 31 pieces of music that were written for the game. When Chris undertook this project, he treated the score as though it would be released as a separate soundtrack. The sound quality of the cd is very high. Since you wrote such a great review of his music, you deserve to hear all of it. You are welcome to post all the pieces so that your audience can hear Chris’ music. Please let me know if you would like me to send you the cd.
    Thanks, Katie.

  3. When some one searches for his necessary thing, thus he/she wishes
to be available that in detail, thus that
    thing is maintained over here.
